Abstract

The curriculum changes at the Faculdade de Medicina de Marilia (FAMEMA) has always been associated with nationwide events that were important to promoting reflections about medical education in this country. These changes gradually have implemented in the institution the model of curriculum integrated and oriented by dialogic competency. The process of teaching and learning in a Professional Practice Unit (PPU) developed in every graduation year of FAMEMA medical school, has both teacher and student as active constructors of knowledge. Working within the active methodology presents challenges for both. The professor, in turn, must constantly exercise critical reflection so that his performance is actually transforming professional practice and contributing to the formation on the axis of integrality. This research, therefore, seeks to analyze the teaching and learning processes behind the professor's views on the Professional Practice Unit, in the medical school of the Faculdade de Medicina de Marília. The methodology of this research will use both a qualitative and quantitative approach, with professors as subjects of research. Data will be collected in the first phase by questionnaire and by semistructured interviews in the second phase. The quantitative analysis will be done by the software SPSS 11.0 and qualitative data by content analysis, thematic modality. (AU)
