Abstract

Reproductive period, juvenile recruitment, maturity, sexual ratio, individual growth and longevity of Xiphopenaeus kroyeri will be investigated. Monthly samples will be carried out from July/12 to June/2013, in the region of Cananéia, SP, using a commercial fish boat supplied with a trawl bottom net. Sampling effort will be 30 minutes/trawling. Environmental factors, such as bottom and surface temperature and salinity, clorophyll-a and dissolved oxygen, will be monitored. Shrimps will be quantified at each station and sampled month, measured in relation to carapace length (mm) and identified in relation to sex and gonadal stage. Sexual maturity will be analyzed by CL50%, and the reproductive period will be based on the frequency of females with mature gonads throughout an annual cycle. Recruitment will be investigated in the face of the analysis of size class monthly distribution for both sexes. Sex ratio will be examined among months and sampled stations. Individual growth will be estimated by monitoring modal progression (AJMOD) and longevity by Bertalanffy equation. Besides, it will be verified if the proposed offseason, based on juvenile recruitment, is in accordance for the studied species. It is expected that, with this study, a more detailed comprehension of life dynamics and conservation of this important fishery resource of southern coast of São Paulo. (AU)
