Abstract

Actually, in the physical therapy clinics, one of the most present complaints is the patellofemoural pains syndrome (PFPS), which comes to characterize up to 25% of all complaints of the knee in people who practice some form of physical actitvity, being much more commom in females. Caused by a biomechanical imbalance, the PFPS is a result of hip muscle weakness that leade the femur to move in a uncontrolled manner when the individual performs his daily and sports activities in closed kinetic chain (CKC), leading to overstress in retropatelar region and generating pain. It is important to know that this change in the pattern of femur motion is the result of a series of compensation in the trunk, hip and pelvis, which together will lead to such change Although we find kinematic studies that evaluate the angular position of the knee, hip, ankle and trunk in women with PFPS, there is a deficit in the literature regarding the correlation of these findings with the electromyographic activity and ground reaction forces during jump activities, this time when many patients report pain. Thus, the aim of this study is to evaluate the three dimensional angular kinematics of the trunk, pelvis, hip, knee and ankle, as well as ground reaction force and electromyographic activity of muscles of the hip and knee during the hop test in healthy subjects and in individuals with patellofemoral pain syndrome.Key words: Biomechanic, patellofemoral pain sindrome, eletromyography
