Abstract

The effects of hypoxia can change several cognitive functions including memory, attention, executive functions, decision making, mood state and sleep patterns. Accordingly, thinking in a strategy to minimize the deleterious effects of hypoxia, it is believed that the acute exercise with moderate intensity, performed in conditions of hypoxia, can minimize the deleterious effects of altitude exposure on cognitive function, mood and sleep pattern. Thus, the objective of this study is to evaluate the influence of acute exercise and moderate on the cognitive performance, mood and sleep patterns of subjects exposed to simulated altitude of 4,500 m. The sample will consist of 40 male volunteers aged between 20 and 30 years, divided into 4 groups of 10 persons each. Group Normoxic (GN), Group Exercise and Normoxia (GEN), Group - Hypoxia (GH) and Group - Hypoxia and Exercise (GHE). The battery of neuropsychological tests will consist of tests that evaluated the memory, executive functions, decision making, intellectual potential, attention and assessment of mood and sleep patterns will be evaluated by polysomnography. The moderate exercise will be conducted on a treadmill with rectangular load and fixed speed equivalent to ventilatory threshold intensity I for 60 minutes inside a chamber that simulates altitudes normobáric. The experimental protocol will last two days and three nights in a row.
