Abstract

Exercise has been adopted as a non-pharmacological treatment of Alzheimer's disease (AD), however, there are few studies on its effects in the elderly who are in the advanced stage of the disease, due to the fact that they have severe cognitive and motor impairment, which complicates the evaluation and development of a protocol for intervention and research. Thus, this study aims to evaluate the effect of an intervention for home patients with Alzheimer's disease at an advanced stage. The research will have a transversal step, which will draw the profile of the sample, a longitudinal phase, characterized by the intervention and data collection and post-intervention lasting 12 weeks and finally, a follow-up, after which other 12 weeks the elderly will be reassessed. After being checked for data distribution, the results will be analyzed using descriptive statistics and then to compare the times will be used one-way ANOVA and post hoc, if the data normally distributed. If the distribution is not normal, it will be used the Kruskal-Wallis test, with a pd 0.05 for all analyses. Qualitative data will be interpreted using the technique of content analysis of Bardin.
