Abstract

The aim of the present project is a study of capture of a planet pair into mean-motion resonances during divergent migration of the planets. The study is based on both purely numerical simulations of the N-body problem and analytical and semi-analytical modeling, which allows us to obtain equilibrium and periodic solutions and investigate the parametric space of the problem. In both approaches, the use of physical parameters of the known extra-solar planet systems will be prioritized. Initially, our attention will be paid to the restricted three-body problem, which describes satisfactory the planetary systems involved in the formation process. In the next, the study will be expanded to the general three-body problem, which describes the systems with non-negligible planetary masses. The analysis of the dynamical evolution of a planet pair under tidal effects due to central star will be done in the context of this problem. Finally, the study will be expanded to the systems with more than two planets.
