Abstract

The Bovine herpesvirus type 5 (BoHV-5) belongs to the family Herpesviridae and subfamily Alphaherpesvirinae able to replicate in different tissues and it can remain in a state of latency, being reactivated in stressful situations. The BoHV-5 is the causal agent of nonsuppurative meningoencephalitis usually a fatal stroke that affects mainly young cattle. The BoHV-5 has unknown mechanisms to inhibit cell death and avoid the host immune system. The present study aims to evaluate the expression of FAZ binding factor programmed cell death associated with infection by BoHV-5 in MDBK cell culture (Madin Darby BOVINE KIDNEY CELLS); improve and standardize techniques for extraction of DNA / RNA, and as techniques for producing complementary strand of DNA (cDNA) and standardize the execution of the products to be analyzed in real-time PCR.(AU)
