Influence of pigmental beverages on color altering and fluorescence of bleached catle teeth: an in situ study

Abstract

The aim of the in situ study will be to evaluate the color change and fluorescence intensity of bovine dental fragments subjected to bleaching simultaneously to dye-containing beverages. For this purpose, 36 fragments of bovine teeth will be obtained and daily subjected to 14 at-home bleaching with 10% carbamide peroxide for 3 hours and immersion in dye-containing beverages for 10 minutes. Teeth will be divided according to the pigmenting substance: G1- distilled water, G2- coffee and G3- grape juice (n=12). Twelve volunteers will use an intra-oral mobile device containing 3 dental fragments during 14 days. Volunteers will be instructed to use the device all day long, except during feeding and hygiene procedures. Measurements of color and fluorescence intensity will be performed before bleaching, and after each week of treatment. Data will be subjected to appropriate statistical tests (± = 0.05). (AU)
