Abstract

This project works on the Information and Communication Technology for Development (ICT4D) research area from a specific perspective of development. It works with the concepts of the capability approach, an Amartya's Sen theory, in which development goes beyond the income improvement and is based on the individual freedom. The project starts from the premise that the information and communication technology (ICT) has the potential to promote development. The work will consist of the formulation of a theoretical model of development that prioritizes the TIC's use and regard the development as an individual freedom enlargement. It will be based on a case study of a recyclable waste collectors in Campinas-SP. This project is linked to the project "A Inclusão Social como um Projeto Científico" (Social Inclusion as a Scientific Project) whose development is being financed by FAPESP. (AU)
