Abstract

Municipal Zoological garden, Fábio Barreto, located in northern Ribeirão Preto, was implemented in 1937 on the initiative of Mayor Fábio Barreto, aiming to preserve the national flora and fauna. Over the years, several reforms were performed in Fábio Barreto zoological garden, altering many of its original features. This present research aims to organize and study, chronologically; all interventions that occurred in the Zoo and relate them to their respective historical, social, cultural, and artistic context in Ribeirão Preto. The study of space will be made from the standpoint of architecture and landscaping, providing a historical unpublished record essential to the memory of the city and to the preservation of this valuable heritage.(AU)
