Abstract

The following research aims to analyze the presence of historical elements on the movie Nueve Reinas (Nine Queens), from Fabián Bielinsky (2000). The analysis will be made through the approach of aesthetical and narrative factors, taking in account the historical moment and de cinematographic production on the country where the movie is inserted. It will be studied the panorama of cinematographic production of the period, called "Nuevo Cine Argentino" (NCA) (New Argentinian Cinema), with respect to the movies produced since 1995 with different aesthetic and thematic of what was being made until so. This denomination is put into question, once not all the movies realized at the time belonged to the movement, that is so heterogeneous e imprecise while called a set. The movie itself is not exactly inserted in this denomination, despite being chronologically inserted at the time, once its language is nearer to the classical cinema. Also, it will be made a survey of the Argentinian history at the same time, since the return of the democracy in the country (1983), but, specially, during the governments of Carlos Saúl Menem (1989 - 1999) and Fernando de la Rúa (1999 - 2001), in addition to his successors until the election of Néstor Kirchner in 2003, when a period of strong economical and social crisis started at the country. An analysis of the film will be made based on the cinematographic and historic panoramas, to, then, relate the connections showed on the movie with its environment and how it is made. The analysis will pass through narrative and aesthetical elements of script, decoupage, acting, photography, sound, art and other components that form the cinematographical piece. The analysis, together with the historical and cinematographic study aims to demonstrate how the film is related to its environment without put, necessarily, this environment as the main focus of its narrative, but in its several layers of construction and significance.
