Abstract

The project goal is to associate the occurrence of extreme weather events such as severe storms, Moisture Convergence Zone, Convergence Zone of the South Atlantic and local heating to floods, landslides that occurred in the southeastern region of Brazil, causing social and economic problems, this region. To do so will be used rainfall data from the study area, seeking to understand the dynamics of rainfall associated with the period of occurrence of these events. Precipitation data will be selected based on the site of the National Water Agency, which will enable this study, taking into account the spatial and temporal distribution of this variable. At first there will be a descriptive statistics of the rain, to characterize the pattern and dynamics associated with it. Basically they work with during the spring and summer, which is the period of occurrence of rainfall events marked with intense rainfall concentrated in a short space of time. There will be analysis of the indices of vulnerability of municipalities in the region associated with extreme weather events, enabling discussions between the association of rainfall events and the occupation of areas within the region, by population.
