Abstract

In the last decades, the rise of the demographic concentration in urban areas and the growth of the population in the so called risk areas in Brazil have caused an increase in the number and the impact of natural and man-made disasters. In this context, actions linked to humanitarian logistics like prevention, study and planning of responses to disasters have gained importance. The present project has the objective of elaborate a study about the profile of disaster victims in the last years and to develop methods for data analysis which may help similar studies in the future. In this way, the results of this project may be used to help to direct media campaigns, training personnel and planning of humanitarian operations in the studied states (with the profile study) and help future case studies (with the methods developed).
