Abstract

In recent years, several researchers have emphasized the role of TLRs in different pathologies. In Diabetes Mellitus patients were observed an increased expression of 2 and 4 TRLs. However, the mechanisms and consequences of these changes are not elucidated. Regarding the dermatophyte infection, we did not found studies involving these receptors. In other fungal infections, such as paracoccidioidomycosis, it has been suggested that despite the TLR-2 activation facilitates the fungal infection by to inhibit the triggering of Th17 inflammatory cells, there is a beneficial effect to the host. On the other hand, TLR-4 activation leads to a severe infection associated with an enhanced inflammatory activity and an impaired T regulatory response. Considering the paucity of data and the relevance of this subject, our aim is evaluate the expression of TRL-2 and TRL-4 on peripheral blood monocytes subsets during the HH condition, the dermatophyte infection and in both situation.
