Abstract

Culture has a base role in International Relations Studies, especially since the new comprehension needs that rose post Cold War. Having this necessity as a starting point, two approaches to this matter are particularly relevant: the one identified in Samuel Huntignton and his followers, that had and still have a central role in the field and is originated in the article "The Clash Of Civilizations?"; and the line of thought originated from Edward Said's work, which, although initially focused on a different field, influenced post-colonial thinking and has a great potential to be used also in International Relations Studies. This study intends to analyze the work from both these theorists, their commentators and followers debate; how they influenced the ways International Relations is studied by both classical and modern theories; as well as put the discrepancies and divergences about how to discuss the question of Culture.
