Abstract

The proposed research aims to confront two different national traditions of political science in the first half of the twentieth century, the Italian and the American, highlighting the various notions of science and policy around which they are organized, as well as different answers they gave to the political problems of his time. The purpose of research is to identify the diversity of theoretical frameworks and institutions that characterized the birth of political science as an academic discipline, as well as investigate an approximation between them that occurred before the second world war with the absorption of ideas from the Italian elitist tradition by the American pluralist tradition, forming a kind of pluralistic elitism. The aim is to identify the key characteristics that would confirm the existence of different traditions of political thought, and then conduct a research on the translation of theories or methods produced in other national contexts.
