Abstract

This research aims to study the political speeches from the Castilian Cortes during the reign of Philip II of Spain (1556-1598). Due to the extensive volume of documentation related to this subject, it was chosen the time frame of 1590-1598, period of intensifying conflicts between Cortes proctors and Philip II, in a context of financial crises of Hispanic Monarchy. The scholarship research internship abroad will be held at the University of Salamanca, located in Spain, under supervision of Prof. Dr. Jose Manuel Santos Pérez, with the durability of three months. The stage will be focused to map and select the collection of documents and bibliography related to the latest Cortes of Philip II's reign. Thus, the first step of the stage at University of Salamanca will consist in consultation to the library and university archive, which have heap documentation about the research theme. The second one will be the consultation to the following archives: Archive of Simancas, General Archive of Castile and Leon and Archive of the Royal Chancery of Valladolid, located in Valladolid, and the National Historical Archive, in Madrid, both cities quite near from Salamanca, which allows the feasibility of the research. The main part of documentation about the Cortes of Castile is on the Archive of Simancas and National Historical Archive. Last, after sources' selection, will be written the research reports and elaborate the text of master's dissertation. (AU)
