Abstract

The dynamical formation of the giant planets irregular satellites is still an open problem. The most accepted theory says that these satellites were captured by their parent planets, although gravitational capture is temporary phenomena. In this work we will use gas drag to study the effectuation of the temporary capture. Others works already studied the gas drag effect in the dynamical formation of the irregular satellites, but using analytical models based in exponential functions. In this work we will use a gas envelope generated by hydrodynamical integrations. (AU)
