Abstract

The research aims to analyze the technical films and documentaries and propaganda produced by filmmaker Benedito Junqueira Duarte for the Municipal Government of São Paulo, between the years 1930 and 1950. At the same time matters identify the reception of these films in movie reviews São Paulo and Brazil. It understand how the production of B. J. Duarte was seen by names such as Paulo Emilio Salles Gomes, Anatol Rosenfeld, Arthur Autran, Antonio Moniz Vianna, bnong other critics and intellectuals who thought and were debating Brazilian cinema in this period. Based on the Confrontation of films, critical texts, newspaper articles and photos, among other registries, the goal is to understand the process of filming, editing and production of this institutional reception. This methodological approach will be essential to see by means of moving images, the city of São Paulo perspective of municipal government, but by the look of that translated filmmaker. (AU)
