Abstract

The project "Words and 'Contrapalavras': between the periphery and the Centre in raps of Brazil and Portugal" is part of the thesis "Discourses, power and Authorship in raps", developed at the Federal University of São Carlos (UFSCar), on which we propose to analyze the discourse on rap/in Brazil, particularly those linked to the Group Racionais MC's and the rapper MV Bill, both taken as significant and representative names in the Hip Hop movement, either by their social practices, whether the critical content and polyphonic of his raps. Thus, we propose to make an articulation of Brazilian productions with the rap of Portugal in order to show the words and "contrapalavras" approaching and/or distance the rap and the Brazilian Portuguese. Accordingly, we intend to analyze the raps, in Portugal, linked to the Group Mind da Gap, in order to highlight these words and "contrapalavras". To this aim, we support methodological studies of the theorist Mikhail Bakhtin and his Circle (1995 [1979], 2003 [1992]) to dialogism, responsive-active attitude, style, surplus of vision and exotopic, and of Michel Foucault on authorship, relations of power and resistance (1996 [1970], 1997 [1979], 1999 [1977] [1976], 2002a, 2002b [1969], 2004 [1984]). Moreover, as we will be working with different cultural universes, we will also make a joint study of Certeau (2001, 2003), Hall (1997, 2003), Canclini (2006, 2008), Martín-Barbero (1997) and Bakhtin (1998 [1975]) on culture, in order to discuss the particularities of these distinct contexts, intercultural, mainly because such contexts had, for a long time, a relationship of colonizer-colonized that generated as one of the fruit of this relationship of domination, the officialization of the Portuguese language. Considering our research, this aspect is crucial, since the language is used as a political instrument, aesthetic and identity in Hip Hop movement of the two countries. Finally, all this will make it possible to establish a comparison between the Group Mind da Gap, in Portuguese land, and the Group Racionais MC 's, MV Bill, rapper in Brazil, facing the radical position of each group compared to other rappers and also to what extent both resonate the same issues and the same protests.
