Abstract

The present research proposal consists in the study of digital image processing techniques which make it possible to implement algorithms that can be applied at digitalized chest radiographs to improve the visualization of lung diseases, specially the Lung Abscess, aiming to facilitate and improve whenever possible its visualization and characterization. The algorithms will be implemented using the MatLab software that allows the creation of a friendly interface and that can be run in any Windows Operating System. Through this work, it is expected that, with the improved visualization of Lung Abscess in the images, its characterization can be carried out with more precision and that the data obtained can be used by others researchers who work in the development of a software to simulate this pathology.(AU)
