Abstract

The research being developed aims to evaluate the possible variations in the flow and composition of the gases generated from a recently built waste disposal cell in the landfill of the city of Rio Claro - SP, caused by the influence of household solid waste grounding time, in comparison with formerly operating disposal cells. In this context, measurements will be taken fortnightly, in order to determine the flow and concentration of the carbon dioxide (CO2) and methane (CH4), components of the landfill gas, also known as biogas, released from the drains localized in both new and old waste disposal cells of the landfill of the city of Rio Claro - SP, taking under consideration periods of drought and rain.
