Abstract

This project aims to study the diversity of parasitoid wasps of the subfamily Anomaloninae (Hymenoptera, Ichneumonidae) in areas of Atlantic Forest in São Paulo State based on morphological and molecular data, increasing the knowledge that has been produced within the perspectives of INCT / Hympar Southeast (CNPq, CAPES, FAPESP) with the application of new tools to study the Brazilian biodiversity. Specimens have already been collected with malaise traps from 12 areas of Atlantic Forest in São Paulo State. Sequences of two mitochondrial (mt) (COI, cyt b) and one nuclear (wg) gene fragments will be examined with the general mixed Yule-coalescent (GMYC) model for species delineation. The performance of GMYC analyses will be evaluated by comparing their species delineations with the morphospecies identifications. This will be the first work performed with the Ichneumonidae family in Brazil and we expect it will improve and accelerate the process of identification and also reveal the existence of several undescribed and cryptic species
