Abstract

In this research, we intend to initiate a study on soil-structure interaction by means of numerical simulation. In this case, it is chosen to study and use a computer program that makes the coupling of a direct formulation of the Boundary Element Method applied to semi-infinite with another of the Finite Element Method applied to foundation members. The studies will take place in order to introduce the student to the two numerical methods, with application to a current topic of great interest to the areas of Structural and Geotechnical Engineering, both from the academic and professional environment. Some Brazilian academic papers will form the basis of studies, however, other publications will be searched to update the theme. Numerical examples will be used to study the application of computational code, also looking to find real data to compose the numerical parameters.(AU)
