Abstract

Purpose: to compare the speech rate and frequency of disfluencies in adults who stutter and who not stutter with altered auditory feedback and one inactive condition. Methods: Thirty adults divided in two groups will participate of this study: Experimental Group composed by fifty adults with persistent developmental stuttering, and Control Group composed by fifty adults who not stutter. The adults who stutter need to demonstrate at least 3% syllables stuttered in speech sample, and have to receive severity equivalent to at least "mild" on the Stuttering Severity Instrument. The procedures will be: hearing assessment, fluency assessment (reading and spontaneous speech in two experimental conditions with altered auditory feedback and one inactive) and Stuttering Severity Instrument for the participants of the experimental group. The Fono Tools software will be used to delay the auditory feedback. The data in this study will be analyzed by statistical method.(AU)
