Abstract

This project proposes a study of the capture and fixation of carbon dioxide with hydroxylated azoccompounds to form alkyl azocarbonates . To study the reaction with CO2, it will be used molecules of azo dyes which have free hydroxyl groups and using organic bases as catalysts. This work will be carried out in two stages, the reaction of the azo dyes with carbon dioxide to capture this molecule with the formation of the intermediate carbonate ion and then the O-alkylation reaction of this intermediate with alkylating agents to fixation of CO2 in the form of covalent carbonate. The capture and fixation of CO2 will be performed by activation of the hydroxyl groups of the molecules of azo dyes used as catalyst amidines 1,8-di-azabicicloundeceno (DBU) and 1,5-di-azabiciclononeno (DBN), followed by alkylation to formation of carbonates. To confirm the synthesis of synthesized carbonates , spectroscopy techniques will be used in the region of Fourier Transform Infrared (FT-IR), Nuclear Magnetic Resonance Spectroscopy (NMR) and mass spectrometry (MS). This project is inserted into the lines of research Development of Carbon Dioxide Chemistry and Utilization of CO2 in the Synthesis of Organic Carbonates and Carbamates, developed at the Laboratory of Organic Chemistry Fina FCT-UNESP, campus of Presidente Prudente.(AU)
