Abstract

The aim of this project is an introductory study of Homotopy Theory, a branch of Algebraic Topology. More precisely, we will study the most basic invariant in Homotopy Theory, which is the Fundamental Group. We also intend to solve some mathematical problems through the use of this group. Finally, we hope the student will obtain a good education to attend a graduate course in Algebraic Topology.(AU)
