Abstract

This research project falls within the area of epistemology, specifically in the area of Genetic Epistemology. The objective of this research project is to study the correlation between psychological-epistemic structures necessary for knowledge and mathematical structures studied in the areas of logic and mathematics. The objective is based on studies made by Jean Piaget with the psychological-epistemic structures necessary for scientific knowledge. The specific objectives of this research project are: (1) To explain the notion of epistemic necessary structures for knowledge, (2) to give examples of necessary structures for knowledge, in particular, the Practical Group of Displacement and System of Transfiguration Schemes, (3) To study usual definitions of mathematical and logical structures present in the literature, such as, for example, Algebraic Structures (Group, Body, Ring), "Arithmetic" Structures and Topological Structures, (4 ) to study and explain the correlation between the notion of epistemic necessary structures for knowledge and logical-mathematical structures, (5) to exemplify this correlation by means of the four structures mentioned above, in particular, the psychological-epistemic structures and the System of Transfiguration Schemes.
