Influence of surgical treatment and the use of external prosthesis on postural control in women with mastectomies

Abstract

The aim of this study is to evaluate the influence of mastectomy and the use of external prosthesis in postural control in women undergoing treatment of breast cancer and compare with women without cancer. For this, we asked 120 volunteers aged between 40 and 60 years, wich will be divided into six equal groups, being the first 3 of women undergoing unilateral mastectomy and who make use of external prosthesis and the last third of women who have not breast cancer and who did not undergo mastectomy surgery: G1 - women with small breasts, G2 - women with medium breasts, G3 - women with large breasts; G4 - women with small breasts, G5 - women with medium brests and G6 - women with big breasts. Posture and balance will be evaluated SAPO software, and a force platform, respectively, and the data correlated with pain assessed by visual analogue scale (VAS) and McGill questionnaire, and body image that will be analyzed by body image scale (BIS). The data obtained in the study aimed at improving the forms of physical therapy intervention in the face of adaptative postural changes in women with mastectomy.
