Abstract

In clinical practice the combined use of parenteral glutamine and omega-3 (AG n-3) may be used in severe critically ill patients for modulating the immune, metabolic and inflammatory response. However, there are not enough data to indicate the efficacy and safety of the combined use of parenteral glutamine and omega-3 fatty acids in conditions of metabolic stress. Our goal is, in an experimental model of acute pancreatitis in rats, to study the effect of the isolated and combined use of parenteral glutamine and omega-3 lipid emulsion on the systemic inflammatory response biomarkers and mortality.
