Abstract

This PhD proposal aims at furthering a research in which I appropriate some of the procedures of body mimesis related to actor training and the creation of art characters and plays (performing arts). Its subject is the analysis of the processes in which the character Isabelita and a play named after her were created by Cia. Berro d'Água from 2005 to 2008. I have taken part in them as an actress. The purpose of the investigation of the above-mentioned processes is to reflect on the role memory (and humor) has played in marking the bodies which were observed and used as a reference for the creative process, as well as to consider the role of the actor's affects in the apprehension of acting techniques. It is also my purpose to create a performative experiment based on the observations made during this investigation, which shall be presented at my dissertation defense. Thus, this research is, on the one hand, reflective in that it analyses a creative project that has already been concluded; on the other hand, it is also practical in that it intends to further, intensify and diversify research on body mimesis.
