Abstract

The urban theme is something recurrent on literature since mid-nineteenth century. Aiming to identify and analyze a change of the artist's posture popped by Baudelaire when he represented his "fascination" object, the city, the project is going to focus on two works which belong to two distinguished historical-literary contemporary's moments, Malagueta, Perus e Bacanaço (1963) by João Antônio and Eles Eram Muitos Cavalos(2001) by Luiz Ruffato, seeking the understanding of how each work, through the formal choices of both writers, reinvent the representation's tradition of the city on the thematic and structural scope when it dialogues with the changes in the São Paulo space. The aim of the comparison is to realize what changes in the way of representing the city in Brazilian literature, and why it changes. (AU)
