Abstract In this research, we intend to analyze thirty letters sent by the writer João Antônio to the Minas Gerais writer Manoel Lobato, between 1963 and 1964, with a view to investigating possible circumstances that surrounded the creation and dissemination of the work Malagueta, Perus e Bacanaço (1963), taking into account that the originals of the book were lost due to a fire and that the writer had to seek information about the originals by sending letters to friends, with whom he used to correspond and send excerpts from his stories as he composed them. To do so, we intend to consult the aforementioned collection of letters in order to also understand the process of literary creation of the short stories published in 1963, since, in this exchange of letters, as Mário de Andrade had done to Manuel Bandeira and vice versa, the author makes comments on his creative process, asks for opinions and receives suggestions from Manoel Lobato, the writer with whom he continued to maintain ample correspondence, even after the publication of Malagueta. | |
