Fundamental principles of mechanics were primarily conceived for constant mass systems and material volumes. The process of constructing a mathematical formalism that is adequate for variable-mass systems has so become an active and particular research field of mechanics. This plan of research goes toward this sense. It refers to a research specially dedicated to investigations regarding the elaboration of a proper Lagrangian and Hamiltonian formalism for non-material volumes (open systems and arbitrary control volumes). Papers are supposed to be submitted along a twelve months period of research, which is to be held in the Institute of Technical Mechanics, Johannes Kepler University, Linz, Austria. This does aim at the best attendance of the proposed goals for to the Postdoctoral Research Grant no 2012/10848-4. (AU)
