Abstract

This research aims an analysis of the main characters in the short stories "The Lady of the House of Love" and "The Loves of Lady Purple" focusing on their characteristics, as well as the spaces, objects and colors related to the characters, based on the theory of Jean Baudrillard, from his book O Sistema dos Objetos. This analysis will be done, especially for items related to the construction of the main characters as femmes fatales and fragile women, which in both cases are strongly linked to the representation of both as vampires and puppets, plus some mentions of characters from fairy tales. The aim of this research is to identify the elements of greatest importance and highlight their possible meanings within the works for a better understanding. (AU)
