Abstract

Isolation of entomopathogenic microorganisms is a major step in the development of biopesticides, which have great potential to replace and/or minimize the use of pesticides in agriculture, reducing the impact of agriculture on the environment. The isolation process includes the selection of the substrate to be used, the separation of microorganisms in the samples, the morphology and/or molecular selected material, and finally wrapping the obtained material for purposes of basic research and/or application. This study aims to obtain isolates of the entomopathogenic bacterium Bacillus thuringiensis Berliner from soil samples and characterize these isolates using PCR, which serves to predict the insecticidal activity of the isolates, directing future tests for pathogenicity and virulence groups and/or specific orders of pests.
