Abstract

This project aims cloning, expression, and initial characterization of epoxide hydrolase (EH) of the yeast Candida albicans CCT 0776. The EH activity of this yeast has been detected and studied by the research group of Professor. Anita J. Marsaioli (Institute of Chemistry - IQ/Unicamp) motivated this study. Therefore, searches were performed at NCBI sequences of EH and the genus Candida. Based on homology between them, pairs of primers were designed to amplify the gene EH. Gene amplification by PCR enables nucleotide sequencing, cloning, expression, and purification of the recombinant enzyme. Therefore, the project that follows details the planning for the study of this important enzyme's widespread use of biotechnology.(AU)
