Abstract

The wind turbines are more present in modern power distribution and sub-transmission networks, which are in most cases equipped with doubly-fed induction generators. The technology applied in doubly-fed induction generators allows the operation with controlled variable speed through different control methods. The way in which the wind turbine is controlled during the variations of wind speed has a direct impact on the efficiency of the Wind Farm. Furthermore, the variation of terminal voltage at the connection point may be negatively affected by the operation of the induction generators. Nowadays, the method applied to operate wind turbines the generator operates with fixed speed right after the wind speed reaches the nominal speed (first wind speed value for generation in rated power) and with variable speed before reaches the nominal speed. The goal of this project of scientific initiation is to investigate the efficiency of wind turbine speed control methods combined to the blade pitch angle control in order to maximize the enery generation and minimize the negative effects on the power network. This investigation will be performed through multiple dynamic nonlinear three-phase simulations, using a toolbox from Matlab/Simulink.(AU)
