Abstract

The objective of this research is to study the influence of temperature on compensatory growth of pacu evaluating histology tissue muscle fibers (white and red) and subcutaneous ventral adipose, characterizing and determining the degree of occurrence of hyperplasia and hypertrophy of cells at different ages. The experiment is being conducted at the Polo Alta Sorocabana, Agência Paulista de Tecnologia dos Agronegócios (APTA) in Presidente Prudente, São Paulo, from January to December 2013. The fish were reared in a recirculation system at temperatures of 24, 28, and 32 ºC for 30 days. After this period the temperature was equaled and 6 fish samples were taken monthly, weighed, and measured in length. At the end of the experiment (120 days of cultivation), fish were slaughtered and tissue samples were collected. Histological slides will be prepared and analyzed in a computer coupled in the image analysis system. Data will be analyzed according to a completely randomized design with treatments in a factorial 3 x 5 (temperature X slaughter age). It will be used SAS for Windows version 8.01.(AU)
