Abstract

The research proposes to extend the knowledge of the formulations, views and theoretical projects regarding the formation of the idea of Brazilian architecture guided by links with the question of national identity since the late nineteenth century to the first half of the twentieth century, from survey of primary texts, unknown or little known, manifestoes and scattered writings in newspapers, magazines and books, inaccessible to most researchers, in sense of organization of an anthology of texts on the formation of the idea of Brazilian architecture, its controversies, debates and dilemmas. Similarly, seeks to create a database of authors and writings on issues of identity, race, people and Portuguese colonial heritage, linked to the more general topic around the concept(s) of Brazilian architecture. It is intended, in the end, that this material will be available in print and / or digital, thus helping to broaden and deepen discussions on Brazilian architecture, which will serve as the basis for the development of other investigations related to theme of formation of the idea of Brazilian architecture.
