Abstract It is proposed the characterization of a new screening experiment for protozoa samples (Giardia lamblia and Cryptosporidium parvum) using chemical probes and delayed fluorescence (DF) measurements, in portable devices able to work in the photon-count mode. The main goal is to distinguish the living from the dead (oo)cysts, when arranged in concentrated samples, and to compare with the results recently obtained at UNICAMP in a current PhD project.Both series of experiments (Giardia and Cryptosporidium) will be designed at Hamamatsu K. K. Labs, with pre and post data analyzes as well in collaboration with Dr. Katsumata's group. Experiments with Giardia and Cryptosporidium samples will be properly held at NIID, Tokyo, with support of Hamamatsu's experimental setups and NIID expertise's. (AU) | |
