Abstract Considering the possible nanoelectronic applications of graphene, we propose a research project involving the study of the electronic andtransport properties in mono and multilayer graphene, material that has been subject of great interest nowadays. The project involves theimplementation and optimization of numerical calculations to obtain the electronic structure and transport properties of graphene in the presence of disorder and magnetic and electric fields. Particularly, we intend to investigate the effects of disorder and magnetic field on the valley symmetry breaking, both in monolayers and multilayer graphene. This is a subject of great interest recently and that provides an opportunity for the development of electronic devices where it is possible to control this new degree of freedon (pseudospin) offered by graphene. Moreover, thestudy of the proposed models enables analysis of the experimental results which suggest that the effects of magnetic field and disorder withintrinsic and extrinsic conditions allow the creation of a gap in the electronic structure; which is an essential feature in the development of electronics based in graphene. | |
