Abstract

Television is the main media vehicle in Brazil, this is proved because it is present in 96.9% (2012, PNAD) of Brazilian municipalities. In electoral periods television plays a fundamental role in the process of electoral competition, she is responsible for bringing the figure of the candidates to voters. So the free time to canvass (HGPE) occupies a central and essential role in this scenario since directs canvass the vast majority of Brazilian voters through television media. The unique features presented by the candidate for president of Brazil in 2010, gained prominence in the scenario of political science. Dilma Rousseff went by his first election and tried to be the first woman elected president of the country. Tying these two points, the way the election campaign of the candidate was prepared, and the issues that were addressed, become evident to study HGPE his election. This research aims to evaluate which were the main topics discussed in HGPE in the first round of the elected candidate's campaign for president in 2010, based on the concept of issues, and analyze them quantitatively and qualitatively.
