Abstract

The objective of this study will be to evaluate the influence of different solvents (ethanol, acetone, THF, and DMSO) on the bond strength and nanoleakage of experimental dental adhesives to bovine dentin. Besides the conventional solvents (ethanol and acetone), two alternative solvents will be tested, due to the intermediate vapor pressure of the tetrahydrofuran (THF) and low inhibition of polymerization in dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO). Two experimental adhesives (conventional and self-etching) will be prepared, which will be added 10 wt% of the solvents (acetone, ethanol, THF, or DMSO) later. For the determination of bond strength after 24 hours will be used 50 freshly extracted bovine teeth, five teeth per group (n = 5) and 10 groups with four solvents and one control group without solvent in each blend (conventional and self-etching ). The teeth will be restored and, after 24 hours, cut into sticks of 0.9 X0. 9mm ² in its long axis, which will be tested in a universal testing machine until fracture. Results will be converted into MPa and statistically analyzed with two-way ANOVA and Tukey's test, with a significance level of 5%.(AU)
