Abstract

The aim of the study is to perform the analysis of microstructure and elements of cements and dentin/cement interface. The evaluated cements will be: I - White MTA, II - Portland cement (PC), III - PC with 20% of zirconium oxide (ZO), IV - PC with 50% of ZO, V - PC with 20% of calcium tungstate (CT) and VI - PC with 50% of CT. The analysis of microstructure will be performed using the energy dispersive X-ray (EDX) with the cements in powder form and after mixing with distilled water of 80% distilled water and 20% propylene glycol. To manipulate the cements a proportion of 1 g of powder and 0.3 mL of liquid will be used. For interfacial analysis, a total of 60 bovine teeth (n=10) will be used. The teeth will be sectioned in 10 x 10 mm enamel/dentin blocks. A cavity with 0.5 mm diameter and 1.5 mm depth will be performed in the center of the palatal portion of each specimen. The cavities will be filled with the cements and sealed with a composite resin. Then, the blocks will be immersed in distilled water. The color will be evaluated with a spectrophotometer in the periods of 1h, 24h, 15 days and 30 days after immersion in water. After 30 days, the blocks will be sectioned and analyzes using the EDX regarding the microstructure of cement/dentin interface. The results will be submitted to the normality test of D'Agostino and Person to verify the adequate statistical test (p < 0.05). (AU)
