Abstract

Repair materials and endodontic sealers should not promote tooth discoloration. The aim of this study was to evaluate the color changes promoted by different biomaterials and endodontic sealers based on calcium silicate, and it is divided into three sub-projects. The subproject 1: will be evaluate the effect of different radiopacifiers (BIO2, ZrO2, Nb2O5 and CaWO4), associated with tricalcium silicate. The subproject 2: will be compare dental chromatic change induced by different cements based on calcium silicate, MTA Angelus and its modification (MTA Repair HP). The subproject 3: will study the tooth discoloration induced by sealers based on calcium silicate (MTA Neo Plus, EndoSequence BC Sealer and Biodentine). The coronal portion of 130 bovine teeth will be sectioned lengthwise towards cervical-incisal to obtain the buccal and palatal sections. On the inner vestibular surface will be done two cylindrical cavities, 3 mm above the cement-enamel junction (CEJ) and 13 mm below the CEJ and the remaining thickness of coronal dentin/enamel and dentin will be standardized in 2 mm with Iwasnson spring caliper. Samples (n = 10) will be distributed according to the repair materials and/or sealers used in filling of the cavities, the materials will be placed inside the cavities and then dental fragments will be repositioned and remain stored during the entire experiment in Hank's balanced salt solution (HBSS). The measurement of color change (”E) will be performed by reflectance spectroscopy (Vita Easy Shade) for previously calibrated examiner, before the material placement (T0), immediately after the material placement (T1) and after 7 (T2), 15 (T3), 30 days (T4), 2 (T5), 4 (T6), 6 months (T7). In addition, the underlying dentin will also be assessed in the final period. To calculate the color difference caused by materials, will be used formula proposed by the Commission Internationale de l' Eclairage. The data obtained will be subjected to statistical tests with a significance level of 5%. (AU)
