Abstract This document presents a supervision project in computer vision forthe student Henrique Morimitsu, under the guidance of Professor Roberto Marcondes Cesar Juniorfrom the Department of Computer Science of the Institute of Mathematics and Statisticsof the University of São Paulo. The student will do his internship at Télécom ParisTechin France under the guidance of Professor Isabelle Bloch. The project consists in developing high-level graph-based methods to describe the relationship between objects and events in an image. We propose a new approachbased on a three-layer architecture whichincorporates: extraction of low-level features of the images, graph representation of the scene and high-level event recognition. Even though each of the layerspresents challenging problems for themselves, this project should focus specifically on developing the graph representation layer and studying its application forevent recognition.
