Abstract The decline in muscle strength in the elderly mainly affects the lower limbs and is related to greater functional demand for the execution of daily tasks, which may represent a risk for this population. The gait is the activity of daily living longer run, considering the condition of a higher incidence of falls in the elderly. When performed in conjunction with another task, such as in the act of crossing the street that involves the coordination of sensory stimuli, cognitive and motor, the functional requirement becomes greater. Therefore, the objective of this study is to evaluate the functional demands required for different operating conditions and during simulated street crossings in the elderly with reduced mobility and identify their relationship to the risk of falls. Participants in the study 45 volunteers, females were divided into two groups: group of young and older group. The group of elderly be divided into normal mobility and reduced mobility group, each group being composed of 15 volunteers. The procedures for data collection will take place over two days, on which to perform the evaluation isokinetic dynamometer equipment and gait evaluation. Data analysis will be calculated functional demands required in each of the operating conditions proposed, will be calculated for both the torque and the moment of internal articular joints assessed. It also will be analyzed: for the EMG signal, the percentage of muscle activation and co-contraction, for kinematic data, single support time, stance time, swing phase time, last time, step width, stride length and stride length, for data evaluation dynamometer will be calculated ground reaction force. Statistical analysis will be done to verify the normality of the data, and then the application of specific tests to compare variables between groups and within the same group. For all statistical tests is assumed significance level of p <0.05. | |
