Abstract

Since the last half of the twentieth century, there have been meaningful changes in the modes of knowledge production and organization. Science and technology have been considered essential to the economic and social development of the countries, in which the politics of innovation plays a major role. The innovation discourse was broadly disseminated, and pursues emphasize on the technoscientific achievements as responsible for the economic dynamism and prosperity of the countries and for countless benefits in the social welfare. Another factors like the emergence of the technoscience and the development of science itself also contributed to the expansion and modifications in the modes of scientific knowledge production. As a result of these changes, what we currently understand as science is been redefined in all levels. There are many direct and indirect consequences of these changes. For the current purposes of this research project, we will focus on the modifications that have been happening in the moral realm of the scientific activity, mainly the ones occurred on scientific éthos. The éthos is a complex of essential values and norms that are shared between the members of the scientific community, and that works as a moral duty for them and guides their practice. The present research project purposes to investigate the existing relationship between the recent modifications on the modes of scientific and technological production of knowledge, the appearance of the technoscience and the impact due to these alterations in the constellation of values and norms of the scientific community, what we denominate as changes in theirs scientific éthos.
