Abstract

Information visualization is: given a set of data, (a) making an association between them, extracting and grouping similar data characteristics, and (b) visually represent this association. This representation should present a pattern between the data, to be able to interpret and draw conclusions from this representation. Many applications can be drawn from data visualization, for example, look for patterns present in a data set, get a group of similar documents and find texts that contain certain subject. In our dissertation proposal, we have aimed at investigating the various types of data visualization techniques from the literature and propose an approach for data visualization. We will take the idea of geographic maps, which is a visualization common to the people, to make a geographic visualization for non-geographic data.
